After a long period of testing, I can now draw conclusions about VoIP, strengths and weaknesses.
First of all, if you want to use VoIP daily basis, I suggest you go on www.euteliavoip.it rates are low (more than Skype) and there is a good service including a toll-free number, forum, information for the various systems on existing hardware shop.
How defects in general on the VoIP I can say I found that the limits of the Internet are being felt, especially if your subscription, the guaranteed bandwidth is inadequate, with results that, if you call in hours of low use of Internet (in the early morning or at noon) calls are almost perfect, otherwise you run into jumps, broken phrases or even the fall of the communication.
I noticed that it takes at least 30/40 kb band for a phone call. Another negative note is the
fax: if I use the services offered (I tried both with Eutelia, both
faxator
) goes smoothly, but if I use my hooks and a classic geographic number using a fax gateway as the fritz few faxes that arrive at your destination "intact".
The positive notes are the prices: almost alone with the money you leave for the fee you can phone for a month (of course in normal usage of the phone). times for immediate activation: once registered can have up to five geographic numbers instantly (always with Eutelia), try asking Telecom an additional number or an additional line and good luck ..... :)
In conclusion, I can say that VoIP is growing a lot, but I think it's too soon to replace the normal telephone, even if the root cause is due to the Internet rather than VoIP, but as a supplement, especially for callers to 'foreign, I would say that is a good investment.
